Sustainable tech 4 Good – Feedback

Feedback


Feedback is very important, as it enables us to report back to our corporate partners the positive difference their technology has made and how it has impacted those who are digitally excluded. As well as enabling us and our charity and corporate partners to share and positively promote how surplus tech can facilitate Digital Inclusion and create a real local impact.

Without this, we cannot highlight the issue of digital poverty and encourage further organisations to work with us, both of which will galvanise more companies in the private sector to utilise their technology to aid Digital Inclusion.

“The Service User whom the device was for did not have a landline or mobile phone. I was asked to work with him, but the only way I could work with him was to drive for an hour to visit him in his home. Often he would not be in, so I had a wasted 2 hour journey. This phone has enabled me to keep in contact with my Service User, make my time more efficient and allows me to use the time to work with other people using our service. Fantastic organisation who I can’t thank enough on behalf of my myself and my Service Users.”

“The devices you have provided us with has allowed clients to access the internet where they previously had no device to use. Some clients have had their benefits sanctioned because they have been unable to log onto their Universal Credit Portal and missed messages in their journal. The phones have helped clients keep in contact with their support workers, family and helped provide security to people in domestic abuse relationships. They have been the only lifeline that someone has had to get help when in need.”

“We have used the three tablets to help in a research project we are doing into the barriers faced by women in midlife when accessing the workplace. Using the tablets has allowed us to host a questionnaire on the tablet and taken the questionnaire to the high street. Without this help we would have had to print copies or use our phones which wouldn’t be nearly as professional or eco. The tablets have been a huge boost to the work we are doing. Thank you.”

“We set up a homework club last year for children in the area facing extreme poverty and also put a PC in our community hub for those unfortunately homeless to use. Recently we opened another hub and have placed a second PC there, again for people who are homeless to use.
Having the means to use a tablet or PC is absolutely essential in this day and age, for children it helps them to be included and reduces barriers to learning and for adults helps them to complete application forms, check benefit journals, search for help and support or just keep connected with social media. The difference is extremely positive and essential.”
