Jimmy’s Cambridge celebrated 30 years of amazing work supporting rough sleepers at an inspiring event held at Emmanuel College, Cambridge yesterday. As the founder of Sustainable Tech 4 Good, which uses sustainable, refurbished tech from businesses to support digital inclusion in local communities, I was delighted to be invited to exhibit at this landmark event. Jimmy’s provides an incredible range of support to the homeless, helping them on their journey back to having their own home. Rough sleeping brings a unique set of challenges, including isolation and mental health issues, on top of the physical demands of being out in all weathers. Access to digital devices can help provide a lifeline for the homeless, helping end isolation, and enabling communication and access to essential services.
At Sustainable Tech 4 Good, we are looking forward to working further with Jimmy’s to increase the availability of digital devices to help the homeless rebuild their lives. It was humbling to hear from Cat Strawbridge, Natasha Davies and Elwin Chan at the event, and we thank both them and all the team at Jimmy’s for the fantastic work they do to improve the lives of people whom life has dealt a difficult hand.
We are delighted to be able to play a small part in helping this vital work. It was great to meet so many people at the event who expressed an interest in what we do. I look forward to working with you to get more digital devices into the hands of the people being helped by Jimmy’s – together we can help improve the lives of rough sleepers in Cambridge. A big thank you to Jimmy’s for 30 years of dedicated service to the homeless!
