Today is both World Homeless Day & World Mental Health Day, putting a focus on two issues that have very serious impacts on people’s lives.
Homelessness has reached critical levels across the UK in 2025, according to The Big Issue.
While The Single Homeless Project reports that “there are at least nine times as many women sleeping rough as government figures claim. And women have told us of the relentless dangers they face: rape, harassment and physical assault are everyday experiences.”
Being without a home robs people of identity, security and connection, and the problem is clearly much bigger than reported. Moreover, as we now enter the colder months, this will heap further misery on those sleeping rough.
At Sustainable Tech 4 Good, we are proud to support charities working with the homeless with essential devices to enable people to communicate and access services, helping both their mental and physical wellbeing. Digital connectivity is a vital step on the road to rebuilding lives.

“The devices that we have received from Sustainable Tech 4 Good enable those receiving our support to stay in touch with other services and agencies vital to their housing journey. In addition, the devices can enable them to maintain contact with other members of their support network, including family and friends from whom they may have become estranged, and rekindle vital relationships.” Chris Dade, It Takes A City |
“We put a PC in our community hub for those unfortunately homeless to use.
Recently we opened another hub and have placed a second PC there, again for people who are homeless to use.
Having the means to use a tablet or PC is absolutely essential in this day and age… The difference is extremely positive and essential”

World Mental Health Day serves as reminder of the importance of good mental health and the need to prioritise and invest in good mental health.
This year it Is focusing on the mental health impact of repeated exposure to news coverage of crises and conflicts.
This is something we can all relate to, with seemingly endless streams of bad news being constantly fed to us, and we need to limit our consumption of the 24/7 coverage available. Being open about mental health problems both helps us manage them and also reduces the stigma attached to admitting we need help.
World Mental Health Day has provided a tip sheet to help people deal with overwhelm related to global events and relentless bad news:
